Multi Skilled Operative – Carpenter
Job Summary
Role: Multi Skilled Operative Location: Kent Salary: Up to £38,000.00 per annum Contract: Full-time permanent (42.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM) Car Allowances: Company van & fuel card
We are seeking a Multi Skilled Operative to join our team in Kent. You will be carrying out a variety of property maintenance tasks, including carpentry, painting, plastering, brickwork, tiling, silicone/mastic works, and minor plumbing in void and tenanted social housing properties. The role requires delivering high-quality repairs and installations to enhance social housing standards.
About the Role

Responsibilities
Daily Duties Include:
- Carrying out day-to-day responsive repairs across domestic social housing properties
- Replacing or repairing skirting boards, architraves, and internal door frames
- Installing and adjusting kitchen units, worktops, and cupboard doors
- Repairing or replacing internal doors, handles, locks, and hinges
- Identifying and fixing minor plumbing issues (e.g., leaks, dripping taps, blocked sinks)
- Carrying out patch plastering and making good damaged walls or ceilings
- Completing tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing for walls and floors
- Painting and decorating to a professional finish following repairs
- Ensuring all work is done safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
- Working in occupied properties with sensitivity to residents’ needs and privacy
- Reporting any further works, safeguarding concerns, or property issues beyond scope
- Providing excellent customer service while working directly in residents' homes
- Accurately recording job details, materials used, and completion notes (using handheld devices or job sheets)
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and company vehicles in good working order
- Efficiently managing daily workloads to meet service level targets

Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
✅ Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades, including:
- Carpentry
- Plumbing (minor)
- Plastering
- Tiling
- Decorating
✅ Full UK driving licence (with at least 3 months of being held)
✅ Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
✅ Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
✅ Excellent customer service skills, including experience working in occupied homes
✅ Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
✅ Ability to record work effectively using handheld devices or job management systems
Additional Criteria:
🚗 Must be over 21, hold a UK full driving licence for at least 3 months, and have fewer than 9 driving licence points.
