Multi-Skilled Property Maintenance Technician
Company Description We’re seeking a proactive and reliable caretaker to perform routine inspections and handle minor repair and maintenance tasks across our tenanted properties. Your role will ensure buildings remain safe, H&S compliant, tidy, and well-presented. This is a mobile position requiring daily travel in a provided company van.
The Role
A caretaker responsible for maintaining property standards via inspections, maintenance, and compliance checks across a portfolio of tenanted buildings.
Key Responsibilities
Routine Inspections & Reporting
- Conduct regular property inspections and escalate issues to Property Managers.
Maintenance Duties
Electrical (basic):
- Replace lamps, light fittings, switches, sockets, and fuses. Plumbing:
- Unblock sinks, repair/replace taps, traps, and siphons. Joinery:
- Hang doors, fix kitchen cupboard damages, and conduct related repairs.

General Upkeep
- Tidy up common areas/ad hoc cleaning.
- Landscaping tasks: hedge trimming, litter picking, weed killer application.
Fire Safety Compliance
- Six-monthly fire door inspections.
- Weekly fire alarm tests.
- Monthly emergency lighting checks.
Recordkeeping
- Populate inspection forms and maintenance logs.
- Log servicing of:
- Fire alarms (weekly).
- Emergency lighting (monthly).
- Fire door inspections (six-monthly).
- Document and submit utility meter readings.
Physical Requirements
- Perform manual handling (e.g., moving furniture, sofas, beds).
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Safely operate ladders, access roof spaces when required by task.

Additional Responsibilities
- Install maintenance instruction directives from residential managing agents.
- Accommodate additional duties as reasonably needed.
Requirements, Skills & Qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience in property maintenance/caretaking roles.
- Full UK driving licence (a necessary skill for site travel).
- Independence: Ability to work across multiple sites without supervision.
- Strong grasp of Health & Safety legislation (critical for hazard prevention).
- Basic IT literacy (required for producing/completing inspection reports).
- Residency: Home within 20 miles of Headingley, Leeds.
- DBS vetting pre-requisite.
