About the Role

We're recruiting a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our production operations. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Team Leader, you'll be responsible for planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance — ensuring our equipment performs optimally to meet business objectives. You'll work closely with operations and cross-functional teams to drive efficiency, reliability, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Conduct planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance to reduce downtime and improve plant performance
  • Electrical fault finding on PLCs, motors, production lines, and control panels
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and automation faults efficiently
  • Respond to breakdowns and support new machinery installations
  • Carry out installations, refurbishments, and upgrades in line with business and regulatory standards
  • Drive continuous improvement and contribute to engineering projects
  • Identify and resolve ongoing issues with long-term solutions
  • Work towards a 'World Class' standard in maintenance through benchmarking and audits
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, food hygiene, and environmental regulations
  • Manage spares and inventory, ensuring essential parts are available when needed
  • Work a 4 on / 4 off rotating shift pattern (days & nights)

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, ideally in food manufacturing or FMCG
  • Apprenticeship qualified or holding a City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical and electrical competence, including confident PLC fault finding
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive and detail-oriented approach
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic PC literacy, including familiarity with maintenance management systems
  • Understanding of health & safety protocols and food hygiene regulations

Desirable Skills

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification
  • PLC programming experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
