Multi skilled Site-Based CNC Engineer
Location: Samlesbury (single large site)
Type: Full time, permanent
Salary: £42,000 to £45,000 DOE
Hours: Mon to Thu 08:00 to 18:00, Fri 08:00 to 15:30. Total 45 hours with 7.5 hours/week guaranteed overtime
Package: 27.5 days holiday plus all UK bank holidays, 7% pension contribution, tools provided
Training & culture:
Strong learning culture with UK and international training. Longstanding on-site contract of 30+ years and a track record of no redundancies. Team expected to grow.
Role overview:
Site-based CNC maintenance and service across a wide range of OEM machines, working with a very supportive technical team. Initial focus is servicing and breakdowns. As training is completed, scope expands to recommissioning, retrofits and installations. Salary progression reflects added skills and responsibilities.

Key responsibilities:
- Electrical and mechanical diagnostics and breakdown response on CNC assets
- Planned service to schedule with clear fault histories and parts lists
- Fault diagnosis on spindles, ball screws, linear guides, bearings, way covers and coolant systems
- Precision alignment and geometry checks. Lubrication and guarding maintenance
- Safety testing for e-stops, interlocks, light curtains and guard circuits
- Basic controls support: parameter checks, backups and restorations
- Accurate CMMS updates, shift handovers and customer sign-offs
Must-have requirements:
- Siemens CNC background with 840D and 840D power/solution line
- Hands-on experience working on 4-axis CNC machines as a minimum
- Time-served or formally qualified in electrical or electro-mechanical engineering
- Proven CNC machine tool maintenance in a production environment
- Confident reading electrical schematics and using meter/scope for fault-finding
- Right to work in the UK

- Safety relay or PLC basics. Inverter and servo drive experience
- Spindle rebuilds or ballscrew and linear guide replacement exposure
- Hydraulics and pneumatics fundamentals for cross-functional triage
