Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) Technician
Location: Daventry, UK
About the Role
The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon plays a pivotal role in ensuring our operations run smoothly. As an RME Technician, you’ll maintain a wide range of equipment and workspaces while upholding health and safety best practices.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preventing machine downtime
- Ensuring the availability and quality of equipment
- Enhancing the operational environment
You’ll use your skills to boost efficiency, support your colleagues’ safety, and prevent interruptions to our critical business processes.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Perform proactive and preventative maintenance on site equipment
- Conduct reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse
- Utilise latest tools and technologies to maximise equipment effectiveness
- Uphold health and safety policies at all times
- Support on-site apprentices in their development and progression
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects and implement best practices across EU sites
A Day in the Life
On-site presence: You’ll be based daily at our facilities to quickly address machinery issues.
Preventative tasks:
- Conduct planned maintenance to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently
Reactive repairs:
- Respond promptly to breakdowns by diagnosing, identifying, and resolving issues rapidly
- Propose long-term improvements and expand operational safety where possible
Collaboration:
- Work alongside senior colleagues on routine maintenance tasks
- Liaise with external contractors when specialist expertise is required

- Technically skilled: Made up of engineers, maintenance specialists, and leaders passionate about keeping operations running smoothly.

Our focus is reducing downtime—ensuring our customers receive their orders on time, every time. We often carry out maintenance during off-hours or weekends to minimise disruption, including handling night shifts.
Basic Qualifications
To be considered, you’ll need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- One of the following:
- NVQ Level 3 / SVQ Level 3 / IVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 / EAL Level 3 in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics
- A 4-year UK-certified apprenticeship (with one of the above specialisations)
Additional requirements:
- Completed a 4-year UK-certified apprenticeship in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics or possess NVQ Level 3/SVQ Level 3/IVQ Level 3/City & Guilds Level 3/EAL Level 3 in the same specialisms
- Ability to work flexible shift/weekend/holiday hours
- Experience in electrical or mechanical engineering and as a qualified engineer
- Advanced proficiency in English (written and verbal)
- Proof of qualifications must be provided

Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
- Experience with material handling equipment (MHE) safety standards per OEM protocols
- Experience in robotic operation and maintenance
- Knowledge of condition-based monitoring
- Familiarity with print and apply machines
