Company Description JT Edwards Ltd is a family-run mechanical and electrical contractor based in Hutton, Essex, serving schools, academies, and multi-academy trusts across the UK since 2010. The company combines the responsiveness of a small firm with the capacity to deliver capital projects from £250k to over £2m, including heating, electrical, lighting, ventilation, and decarbonisation works. JT Edwards Ltd also supports multi-site planned preventative maintenance and statutory compliance, as well as reactive callouts during term time and weekends when needed. Schools and trusts value the team’s understanding of occupied educational environments, safeguarding requirements, and the need for reliable summer programme delivery. Communication is direct, consistent, and focused on providing dependable results for education-focused clients. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Multi Trade Construction role based in Brentwood. The role involves carrying out a range of construction works on school and education sites, including repair, refurbishment, and minor project delivery across multiple trades. Day-to-day tasks include completing scheduled and reactive works, supporting renovation projects, and coordinating with site managers and project leads to ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to specification. The Multi Trade operative will work closely with other trades and the in-house team to maintain high standards of workmanship, keep accurate records of work completed, and adhere to health, safety, and safeguarding requirements on live school sites. The position may involve occasional evening or weekend work to minimise disruption to school operations. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in Construction and Renovation, preferably in educational or occupied building environments. Practical skills in Masonry and general building repairs, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently. Experience in Flooring installation, repair, and finishing across a range of materials and settings. Ability to carry out basic Research related to materials, methods, and best practices to support high-quality project delivery. Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, with a proactive approach to safe working on live sites. Relevant trade qualifications or apprenticeships (e.g., NVQ or equivalent) in a construction-related discipline are desirable. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to different school sites as required. Effective communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The work will involve differing shift patterns as we work around school pattern normal and after hours works, and geographically woking away is required.
