Asset Management & Maintenance – Repairs Service Sandwell Council
Sandwell Council is seeking skilled and reliable Multi Trade Operative to join our Repairs Service, delivering high-quality housing repairs and maintenance across our council housing stock.
This is a hands-on role where your work will directly improve the safety, quality, and comfort of residents’ homes.
The Role
As a Multi Trade Operative, you will:
- Carry out a wide range of repairs and maintenance works across multiple trades, including carpentry, basic plumbing, plastering, and general building works
- Work in both tenanted and void properties, completing jobs safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs with a strong right first-time approach
- Use mobile technology to receive, manage, and record repair works
- Deliver excellent customer service, communicating professionally and respectfully with residents and colleagues
- Follow all health and safety, safeguarding, and council procedures always

About You
We are looking for operatives who:
- Have proven experience working in a multi-trade housing repairs environment
- Can work independently while managing a varied daily workload
- Take pride in the quality of their work and customer satisfaction
- Understand the importance of health and safety and safe systems of work
- Are comfortable using handheld devices and digital systems
- Hold a full UK driving licence
Relevant trade qualifications are applicable for the role.
