Multi Trade Operative - Disrepair
Job Type: Temporary to Permanent
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Reading, High-Wycombe, Slough, Luton & Befordshire
Salary: £25 per hour
A Disrepair Operative is required to join a reputable property services contractor delivering legal disrepair works across domestic and social housing properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out all aspects of general maintenance and remedial repairs, ensuring properties are restored to a high standard and disrepair issues are resolved efficiently.
Daily Responsibilities
- Carrying out planned and reactive legal disrepair works within occupied residential properties.
- Undertaking a variety of multi-trade repairs including plumbing, carpentry, painting and decorating, patch plastering, and general maintenance.
- Diagnosing property defects and completing remedial works in line with disrepair schedules.
- Ensuring all repairs are completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
- Delivering excellent customer service while working in tenants' homes.
- Maintaining compliance with health and safety procedures at all times.
- Keeping accurate records of completed works and materials used.
- Working independently or as part of a team across a designated area.

Requirements Of a Disrepair Operative
- NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry or Plumbing
- Previous experience carrying out legal disrepair works, property maintenance, or social housing repairs.
- Strong multi-trade skills, particularly in plumbing, carpentry, and decorating.
- Ability to identify defects and carry out effective remedial repairs.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations within the construction and maintenance sector.
