Role Location: Swindon
Annual Salary: £35,579 - £37,452 per year (rising to £37,452 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, including emergency call outs (once every 9 weeks)

About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Multi-Trade Operative to join our day-to-day team in Swindon. You will predominantly focus on plumbing or carpentry as your core trade, with the responsibility of performing tasks across various trades, including fencing, groundworks, tiling, UPVC installation, and plastering.
Your primary duties will involve:
- Carrying out routine responsive and reactive repairs in properties across Swindon, Thatcham, Newbury, Gloucestershire, and Reading.
- Carrying out repairs such as fixing leaking taps, replacing baths, installing and repairing doors, tiling, and kitchens/bathrooms from scratch.
- Completing research, estimates, budgets, and maintenance checks to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Maintaining a suitable van stock level and restocking tools/supplies when required.
- Providing accurate updates and transparent communication to customers regarding progress.
- Playing an active role in the emergency call-out rota (currently once every 9 weeks).

Responsibilities
- Attending occupied properties to carry out construction, fault fixing, and maintenance duties within Social Housing.
- Resolving and addressing customer problems, ensuring they are informed every step of the way.
- Driving company vehicles to complete on-site and instillation work across different locations.
- Ensuring technical compliance and legal adherence, particularly in regards to building safety legislation.
- Independent working with minimal supervision, relying on self-motivation and problem-solving.
- Providing high-quality customer service and efficient communication at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must hold qualifications in a primary trade, with the following as minimum requirements:
- NVQ Level 2 in carpentry or plumbing.
- If plumbing is the core trade, an additional Water Regulations (WRAS) compliance certificate and a Unvented – G3 Certificate are required.
- Valid UK driving licence (candidates must be willing to drive company vehicles).
- Must bring original certification during the interview process. Copies or CSCS cards will not be accepted.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Strong health and safety awareness, adherence to regulations.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Proven ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and plan efficiently.
- Demonstrated multi-skilled capabilities in various trades to meet the diverse needs of the role.
