Overview
DWR Veterinary Specialists is one of the largest specialist multi-disciplinary veterinary referral centres in Europe, offering outstanding levels of clinical care in state-of-the-art facilities. Our dedicated vets, nurses and nursing assistants, supported by the client care teams, are committed to providing the highest quality surgical and medical care for pets. We accept referrals in Anaesthesia, Cardiology, Dermatology, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine Neurology and Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Physiotherapy, Dentistry and Soft Tissue Surgery. We have comprehensive and established clinical and non-clinical programmes for training, development and CPD.
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join our Ward Nursing Team. Working in a fast-paced referral environment, you will provide high-quality inpatient care to canine and feline patients across a variety of specialist disciplines.

This role is ideal for an RVN with an interest in inpatient care who enjoys a patient-focused role and is keen to develop their skills in a referral setting. Previous referral experience is beneficial but not essential, and newly qualified RVNs are welcome to apply.
Main Purpose & Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional nursing care to inpatients across all wards.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor and care for medical, surgical, critical care and infectious patients.
- Perform clinical nursing duties including blood sampling, IV catheter placement and patient monitoring.
- Support patient admissions, ward rounds and clinical record keeping.
- Provide pre- and post-procedure nursing care, including anaesthetic recovery.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, patient welfare and communication.
Essential
About You
- Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
- Previous veterinary nursing experience
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a busy team environment
Desirable
- Referral nursing experience
- Additional qualifications in Advanced Veterinary Nursing or ECC

Working Pattern
- 40 hours per week
- Shifts between 06:30–18:30, Monday–Friday
- 1 in 4 weekend rota (with TOIL)
- Participation in Bank Holiday rota required
