Job Opportunity: Multilingual Community Counsellors
About the Role
Job Title: Multilingual Community Counsellors Organisation: Women’s Consortium (WC)
WC is seeking qualified Multilingual Community Counsellors to provide evidence-based counselling support to adults in Birmingham and Solihull. We are particularly interested in counsellors fluent in English alongside one or more of the following languages:
- Urdu
- Punjabi
- Arabic
- Somali
- Bengali
- Hindi
- Other languages commonly spoken across the region
This role focuses on delivering short-term, trauma-informed, and culturally appropriate individual and group support for adults experiencing mild to moderate emotional distress.
Core Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and/or group counselling sessions in line with best practice
- Provide emotional wellbeing support tailored to diverse community needs
- Conduct assessments, risk assessments, and safety planning, ensuring ethical practice
- Maintain accurate clinical records while adhering to confidentiality protocols
- Follow safeguarding policies and professional standards
- Participate in clinical supervision and reflective practice discussions
- Ensure safe, ethical, and professional delivery of counselling services

Key Requirements
Minimum Criteria
✔ A Level 4 Diploma or higher in Counselling or Psychotherapy ✔ Registration with BACP, UKCP, or an equivalent professional body ✔ Minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience, or completion of a current placement with sufficient supervised hours ✔ Proven experience supporting adults with mild to moderate emotional distress ✔ Fluency in English + one additional community language relevant to Birmingham/Solihull ✔ Strong understanding of safeguarding, boundaries, and record-keeping principles ✔ Committed to a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach

Desirable (Not Essential)
🔹 Experience in clinical supervision or holding a clinical supervision qualification 🔹 Prior experience with group therapy 🔹 Work experience with Global Majority communities 🔹 Background in community or primary care mental health 🔹 Experience supporting migrants, refugees, or non-English-speaking individuals
Additional Details
- Location: Community-based (Birmingham and Solihull), with hybrid delivery options
- Contract Type: Fixed-term (2 years), subject to funding availability
- DBS Check: Enhanced DBS clearance required
