Multimedia Design Director

Multimedia Design Director (up to £55,000)

12-month fixed-term contract

At Immediate Publishing, we’re home to some of the biggest and most loved consumer brands in the UK, including Radio Times, Good Food, Gardeners’ World, and History Extra. Our trusted, quality content reaches millions of people monthly across digital, print, video, podcasts, apps, and live events.

We’re the destination for people looking to get more from the things they love—deepening their knowledge, skills, and fuelling their passions to enjoy more of what life has to offer. Whether it’s fitness goals, savouring good food, cultivating spaces, or enjoying the latest TV sensations, we help bring our audiences joy.

About the Role

The Multimedia Design Director will lead the visual direction for Gardeners’ World. This is a role for a craft-obsessed, systems-minded creative who can bridge the brand’s celebrated legacy with its digital future, preserving its warmth, authority, and distinctiveness while building scalable frameworks for consistent, on-brand output.

You’ll:

  • See the holistic picture: defining how Gardeners’ World presents itself across print, digital, social, motion, and experiential.
  • Foster a love of gardening to deepen audience understanding and authenticity.
  • Lead a design team, enforcing ambition, quality, and collaboration.
  • Push for excellence—distinguishing between on-brand and merely acceptable.

Key Responsibilities

Visual Brand Guardianship

  • Own and evolve the Gardeners’ World visual identity across all touchpoints (print, digital, social, motion, experiential).
  • Define and maintain the brand design system, including typography, colour, iconography, grid, and motion principles.
  • Set design guardrails for the wider team to produce on-brand work independently and at scale—acting as the final consistency checkpoint.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
