Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Multiple Wiremen on a 6 month rolling Contract, located in London.

Role Overview

Rubicon Consulting is recruiting multiple experienced Wiremen for a live HV substation project in London. This is a hands-on site role focused on transformer wiring, glanding, terminating and multicore cable work within a live substation environment. Positions are offered on 6 month rolling contracts with strong potential for extension across the wider project programme.

Main Scope of Work

  • Transformer wiring — control and protection wiring to substation transformers
  • Glanding and termination of LV, MV and multicore cables
  • Termination of multicore control and instrumentation cabling
  • Installation and dressing of cable containment and cable routes as required
  • Cable testing, continuity checks and fault-finding support
  • Working from wiring schedules, schematics and cable block diagrams
  • Liaising with the site supervisor and wider electrical team to maintain programme
  • Maintaining accurate site records, including as-built markups and test sheets
  • Working safely within a live substation environment, adhering to all site RAMS and permits

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience as a Wireman on HV/EHV substation projects
  • Strong hands-on experience with transformer wiring, glanding and terminating
  • Multicore cable termination experience essential
  • Valid ECS/JIB card (Wireman/Electrician grade)
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Up-to-date site safety training (e.g. SSSTS or equivalent)
  • Full PPE and own hand tools
  • Able to pass client site induction and security vetting (BS7858 where applicable)

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience on National Grid or SSEN framework substation projects
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Experience working within live/energised substation environments
  • Testing and inspection qualifications (e.g. 2391)
