Multiskilled Apprentice

Electrical and Mechanical Technician (EMT) Apprentice

About the Role

Procter & Gamble (P&G) is the world’s largest consumer goods company, producing exceptional branded household and personal care products including Ariel, Fairy, Pampers, Gillette, Oral B, and Pantene.

Based at our Manchester Production Facility, we manufacture Pampers nappies for the UK and Northern Europe. Our operation runs 24/7, handling up to 20 diapers every second through highly automated, high-speed equipment with complex mechanical and electrical needs. This requires skilled technicians who can maintain advanced power and control systems, particularly Rockwell-based technology.

As an apprentice, you’ll rotate through various departments across a supportive 3-year programme while earning qualifications, including a Level 3 Electrical & Mechanical Technician (EMT). You’re also welcomed into specialist teams like Rebuild and Ancillary (Utilities and Palletisation).

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in a multi-skilled engineering team, partnership with Trafford College, contributing to daily operations while completing structured apprenticeship assignments.
  • Perform planned and preventative maintenance, and fault finding using rigorous technical analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Champion manufacturing excellence through continuous improvement initiatives tailored to your department.
  • Work across systems and equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to internal controls, quality, hygiene, safety standards, and medical device regulations.
  • Implement appropriate problem-solving techniques, ensuring adherence to procedure plans, drawings, and technical data.
  • Gradually assume responsibility for site equipment and systems, developing consistency in problem-solving and technical skills.
  • Report non-conformances with equipment or systems, prioritising the safety imperative while following standard procedures.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
