Multiskilled Engineer (Electrical) - Burnley General Teaching Hospital
EQUANS is looking for a Multiskilled Engineer (Electrical) to work on our Burnley General Teaching Hospital contract. This role would be a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview
This position is a multi-skilled technician based at BGTH with an approved electrical bias. Based at Burnley General Teaching Hospital, the Multi-Skilled Engineer will be responsible for the technical performance and maintenance of standards within the contract. They will provide guidance to others on site, showing technical expertise, particularly in electrical systems, to ensure appropriate and compliant solutions and efficient customer service delivery. The engineer will have advanced technical knowledge in more than one skill or technology area – although with an electrical bias.
- Help ensure compliance with statutory and company procedures, maintaining up to date knowledge of H&S and environmental regulations and helping us to achieve our H&S target.
- Diagnose, fault-find, commission systems, monitor and assess ongoing machine/facility performance, through Planned Preventive Maintenance programme, identifying any additional works required.
- Assist in installing, commissioning, and servicing plant, equipment and industrial furniture.
- At all times maintain a smart appearance and professional manner that is representative of EQUANS in the workplace.
- Carry out and assist in planned/reactive maintenance to on site systems.
- Flexible working hours required which may include shifts and overtime working by arrangement.
- Participate in the on-call rota.
- Administer and complete relevant paperwork.
- Fair, consistent, and courteous attitude in all dealings at all levels.
- Ability to work under pressure, take ownership of problems and deal with them to their conclusion.
- Ensure that all issues are reported to the Technical Services Manager/Estates Manager.
Impact
The individual will play a vital role to EQUANS, working alongside an already established technical team to ensure that the operations are legally and contractually compliant and represent excellence in service delivery. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a positive set of behaviours and a flexible approach to ensure contract compliance.

Complexity
We are looking for a driven individual to add expertise and dimension to the facilities maintenance team at Burnley General Teaching Hospital. They will demonstrate flexibility and efficiency in responding to changing business requirements and will establish good working relationships with other team members. The individual should have ambitions to progress within a company that offers opportunities to develop.
Qualifications or Required Experience
- Experience in Facilities management and general electrical maintenance.
- Recognised Electrical apprenticeship and or qualifications.
- Candidate must be able to maintain, service and repair a wide range of the building services, some listed below:
- Working with Lighting and Small Power.
- Low voltage electrical distribution system and switchgear,
- Emergency standby generators,
- Fire alarm systems,
- General and Emergency lighting.
- Building Management Systems,
- Ventilation and A/C systems
- LTHW heating boilers and pumps
- Domestic H&C water systems
- Valid UK driving license and able to obtain DBS check.
- Fully qualified electrician; Qualified to IEE 18th edition.
- Testing and certification of electrical installations. (Desirable)
- Basic computer literate.
- Sound awareness of risk assessment and working safely with equipment.
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety
- Experience of working within a Healthcare environment preferred but not essential.
- Ability to follow instruction, work to plans (method statements), communicate, present and

Required Qualifications
- Must have completed an electrical apprenticeship with relevant qualifications.
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- City & Guilds 2392 – Inspection & Testing or equivalent. (Desirable)
- City & Guilds 2382 – 18th Edition Wiring regulations.
