Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £53,000 + Benefits
Shift: 4on4off days
Location: Chard, Somerset

Are you a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer looking for your next challenge?

Whether you're mechanically or electrically biased, however can demonstrate good electrical fault finding capability, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

You'll be joining a well-established manufacturer where engineering plays a key role in maintaining production reliability, minimising downtime and supporting continuous improvement. Working as part of an experienced maintenance team, you'll be responsible for maintaining a wide range of production and packaging equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This is what you'll be doing

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across production and packaging machinery.
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
  • Maintaining motors, drives, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics and associated production equipment.
  • Fault finding on electrical control systems, sensors, inverters and three-phase equipment.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant reliability and performance.
  • Assisting with equipment installations, upgrades and engineering projects.
  • Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with food manufacturing standards.
  • Working closely with production to maximise equipment availability.

What you'll need

  • Time-served apprenticeship or recognised engineering qualification.
  • Previous maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Electrically biased preferred as confidence to diagnose and rectify electrical faults independently is essential.
  • Experience fault finding on production machinery and automated equipment.
  • Comfortable working with three-phase motors, control panels, drives and electrical components.
  • A logical approach to fault finding with a strong focus on safety and reliability.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to support the wider engineering team.
