Senior Music Transcriber — MIDI & Notation (Generative Music)
Role Type & Compensation
- Type: Contract
- Compensation: $55–$110/hour
- Location: Remote
Role Responsibilities
- Transcribe full mixes or provided stems into accurate multi-track MIDI
- Capture:
- Pitch
- Onset
- Duration
- Speed (velocity)
- Harmony/key
- Modulations
- Polyphony
- Follow a consistent MIDI spec, including:
- Quantization
- Tempo mapping
- Drum mapping
- Pitch bends
- Work independently and asynchronously with flexible hours to meet deadlines
- Ensure high-quality symbolic ground truth—one instrument per track, aligned to the audio

Qualifications
Must-Have
- Professional experience in transcription/notation (session work, arranging, engraving, or equivalent)
- Fluency in a DAW or notation tool (e.g., Logic, Cubase, Reaper, Pro Tools, Sibelius, MuseScore)
- Ability to transcribe polyphonic, multi-instrument material accurately by ear
- Strong music theory knowledge (harmony, voice leading) and rhythmic precision
