Musical Theatre Lecturer – paternity cover

£32,510.78 - £42,483.46 (dependent on experience) FTE

The Vacancy

Hours - up to 15 hours

About The Role

HSDC is seeking a musical theatre lecturer to cover a period of paternity leave. The ideal candidate will be confident leading our vocational musical theatre course, as well as teaching dance across our performing arts programmes. A strong background in shaping and delivering musical theatre productions is essential, alongside a solid understanding of how to create and structure showcases, including their creative elements. Choreography experience is essential, as is the ability to stage musical numbers with confidence and creativity.

Responsibilities

  • Planning effectively and delivering high quality teaching, learning, assessment and support, leading to excellent attendance, retention and achievement.
  • To deliver formal scheduled teaching duties and student assessment.
  • To record, share and regularly monitor student progress using College information systems.
  • To prepare learning plans schemes of work, keep relevant records and undertake all administration relevant to teaching duties.
  • To attend parents’ evenings, marketing and promotional events.

Requirements

  • Level 5 or equivalent Teaching Qualification such as Certificate in Education or PGCE or willingness to work towards this.
  • High level of specialist knowledge of the subject area.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in teaching the subject area to full-time or part-time students (Desirable).
  • Degree/Drama school training in relevant subject (Essential).
