Following the successful acquisition of Simkiss Control Systems by United Infrastructure Group, we are investing in the continued growth of our MV Switchgear division.
We are seeking an experienced MV Switchgear Project Manager / Estimator to play a key role in winning and delivering projects across the UK's power, utilities, industrial and data centre sectors.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing business backed by a £1bn infrastructure group, where you will influence both project delivery and the future growth of the division.
The successful candidate will combine strong estimating capability with practical project management experience, supporting projects from tender stage through to successful completion.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities – Estimating
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for MV switchgear, protection & control, package substations, LV distribution, and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Review specifications, drawings and tender documentation.
- Undertake site surveys where required.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Identify project risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions.
- Develop competitive bid strategies with senior management.
- Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.

Key Responsibilities – Project Management
- Manage projects from award through to completion.
- Develop project programmes, budgets and resource plans.
- Coordinate internal teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Monitor programme, commercial performance and profitability.
- Manage client communications and stakeholder relationships.
- Chair progress meetings and provide regular project updates.
- Identify and mitigate project risks.
- Manage commissioning, testing and handover activities.
- Ensure contractual obligations are met.
Commercial & Business Development
- Prepare project forecasts and support cost control.
- Manage variations, Compensation Events and change control.
- Support procurement and supply chain activities.
- Develop strong client relationships and identify repeat business opportunities.
- Support tender interviews and client presentations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
- Promote a positive safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and client requirements.
- Support audits and quality assurance activities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.

Qualifications
About You
- Commercially aware with strong technical knowledge of MV electrical distribution systems.
- Experienced in both estimating and project delivery.
- Excellent communication, client facing and stakeholder abilities.
- Able to interpret single line diagrams, protection schemes and electrical drawings.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience as an MV Project Manager, Electrical Estimator or combined PM/Estimator.
- Strong electrical engineering background.
- Experience delivering MV switchgear, utilities, industrial, infrastructure or data centre projects.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and estimating software.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely and/or ECS/CSCS.
- Knowledge of control systems and automation.
