Role Overview
This role is offered as a 6-month fixed-term or secondment opportunity.
Are you a highly skilled and experienced nurse, midwife, or social worker with expertise in safeguarding? We are seeking an exceptional individual to undertake the role of Named Professional for Safeguarding Children and Young People, supporting the delivery of high-quality safeguarding practice across the Trust on a fixed-term or secondment basis.
Responsibilities
The post holder will provide expert leadership, advice, and support on all aspects of safeguarding children and young people, ensuring the Trust meets its statutory responsibilities in line with current legislation, national guidance, and best practice. Promoting a child-centered, Think Family approach, the role is central to embedding high-quality safeguarding practice across the organisation.
- Working in partnership with the Named Doctor, Named Midwife, Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults, Trust Lead for Children and Young People, Associate Director for Vulnerable People, and external safeguarding partners, the post holder will lead and coordinate safeguarding activity across the Trust and contribute to effective multi-agency safeguarding arrangements.
- Acting as a professional role model, the successful candidate will demonstrate expert practice, leadership, education, and governance, supporting staff to respond effectively to safeguarding concerns and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality care for children and young people.
- The post holder will provide expert leadership, advice, and support on safeguarding children and young people across the Trust.

Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a safeguarding expert in partnership with the Named Doctor and Named Midwife.
- Providing specialist advice to staff on safeguarding concerns, risk assessment, and complex case management.
- Supporting and delivering safeguarding supervision, promoting safe and consistent practice.
- Embedding current safeguarding priorities including contextual safeguarding, exploitation, domestic abuse, and online harms.
- Providing professional leadership, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and national guidance.
- Contributing to multi-agency safeguarding arrangements, investigations, and reviews, including Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews and Rapid Reviews.
- Representing the Trust at safeguarding partnership forums and contributing to system-wide learning.
- Supporting organizational assurance through reporting to the Trust Board and commissioners, including the Safeguarding Children Annual Report.
- Leading safeguarding training programs, ensuring staff meet required competencies and promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Monitoring safeguarding systems, leading audits, supporting CQC compliance, and ensuring learning is embedded.
- Maintaining professional standards, confidentiality, and ongoing professional development.
