About the Role: National Account Manager – High Street

As the primary customer-facing role, you will proactively engage with key High Street and Gas & Catering partners to develop strategic and tactical plans, drive financial and distribution targets, and optimise share across beer and soft drinks categories.

Key accounts you will manage include: WH Smith Travel, Boots, Superdrug & M&S.

You will oversee one direct report — the Motorway Service Stations team (Welcome Break, Roadchef, Moto).


Core Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning & Account Management
    • Develop and execute customer-specific plans tailored to channel and brand objectives.
    • Collaborate with internal teams and customer stakeholders to design tailored annual plans that enhance sales growth and operational excellence at the outlet level.

  • Negotiation & Commercial Leadership

    • Draft, negotiate, and deliver Joint Business Plans (JBPs) in compliance with internal governance frameworks.
    • Lead pricing negotiations (including cost increases and customer communications).
    • Own end-to-end P&L responsibilities for key accounts, managing budgets, ROI, and investment strategies.
  • Business Execution & Activation

    • Oversee brand activation plans and coordinate cross-functional efforts to drive performance and engagement.
    • Partner with Supply Chain teams to optimise forecasting, promotional management, and business planning.
  • Relationship & Performance Management

    • Build and maintain proactive customer relationships, identifying opportunities for growth.
    • Monitor account metrics, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions.
    • Use CRM and planning tools (Xtel, Promax, Anaplan) to manage plans and workflows.

Requirements & Key Attributes

To excel in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Commercial Acumen & Leadership

    • Ability to develop impactful Joint Business Plans and tailored account strategies.
    • Competence in P&L ownership, profit/volume forecasting, and financial management.
  • Negotiation & Influence Skills

    • Strong persuasive selling, negotiation tactics, and business tense resolutions.
    • Confident oratoratus, delivering persuason in internal/external stakeholder engagements.
  • Relationship & Problem-Solving

    • Accurately prioritise, plan, and manage your time under dynamic conditions.
    • Build simulations and develop proactive contact strategies.
