About the Partnership Opportunity

We are excited to partner with a leading independent drinks business that commands a significant presence and reputation within the UK drinks industry, boasting an extensive portfolio in wine. The company grows by fostering innovation, building impactful customer partnerships, and maintaining strong category expertise.

As the firm strengthens its commercial foundation in the Off Trade channel, they are seeking to appoint a National Account Manager to drive profitability and sustainable growth across their portfolio, while taking ownership of key retail accounts.



Why This Role?

This is an impactful commercial role with significant influence across the Off Trade operation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Taking ownership of strategically important national retail accounts and customer alliances.
  • Managing a comprehensive commercial scope, including sales, profitability, forecasting, and trade spending investments.
  • Developing and executing customer growth strategies in alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaborating across functions such as Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations to ensure superior customer delivery.
  • Providing mentorship and support to National Account Executives or relevant team members, enhancing performance and professional development.
  • Joining a thriving company with the ambition to expand, backed by genuine investment in talent and career advancement.

  • Taking commercial oversight of designated customer portfolios, focussed on growth performance and development.
  • Designing, implementing, and managing customer plans, both by brand and channel, while engaging in budgeting and trade forecast processes.
  • Maximising return from trade investments, ensuring they generate constructive commercial outcomes.
  • Developing strong, collaborative relationships with buying, supply chain, operations, marketing, and store-level stakeholders to drive success.
  • Managing promotional activities, coordinating pricing, and product launches while monitoring competitor activity to identify opportunities within the market and gain customer insights.

As part of professional development, you’ll be responsible for team mentoring and coaching to help grow team capability and elevate commercial performance.



Who Are We Seeking?

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong experience within FMCG sales, with an aptitude or background in the wine industry being highly desirable.
  • Proven expertise in managing major multiple retailers and/or premium wine retail customers.
  • Record of successfully delivering commercial growth and effectively managing expansive customer portfolios.
  • Skilled in negotiation, forecasting, and financial management.
  • Experience managing trade spend with a focus on achieving profitable account outcomes.
  • The ability to build enduring relationships and influence stakeholders, regardless of their position in the organisation.
  • Demonstrated track record in mentoring, coaching, or developing customer-facing team members.
  • Preference for candidates holding a WSET qualification or equivalent wine education credentials.
  • Strong analytical abilities, with proficiency in Excel and commercial reporting tools.
  • Valid UK driving licence required for travel obligations where applicable.

Contract Details

  • Salary: £45,000 per annum, supplemented with car allowance, performance bonus, or benefits.
  • Ways of working: Hybrid working model with necessary onsite and field travel.
