Customer Account Manager – UK & Ireland

About the Role
As a Customer Account Manager within the UK & Ireland Commercial team, you will play a pivotal role in building, developing, and managing high-value customer accounts at a national level. This dynamic role combines people-focused account management with supply chain expertise, to grow revenue, enhance customer satisfaction, and drive the strategic success of IAG Cargo in your assigned region.
You will collaborate across Business Units, Markets, and Sales teams to set the pace with a regional approach to account planning. The role includes collaborative leadership of stakeholders to enable aligned service delivery, and flexibility to respond to business demands—bringing vision, expertise, and proactiveness to the evolving challenges and opportunities within our sector.
High travel is part of the role—up to 50% of your time—entailing frequent customer visits, national moves or short international trips to Dublin, Ireland.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Your core focus is on managing the portfolio, aligning strategy, and driving performance. Your key accountabilities include:
Strategic Account Development & Growth
- Develop Annual Account Development Plans aligned with IAG Cargo’s commercial strategy.
- Ensure these plans drive revenue targets, growth, and customer satisfaction metrics.
- Actively manage the account opportunity pipeline, including tender requests and specialist pricing engagements.
Customer Relationship & Service Leadership
- Foster long-term, value-driven relationships with key customers, ensuring their challenges are understood and addressed effectively.
- Be the senior point of contact for your territory, representing IAG Cargo with visibility and authority.
- Set the strategic direction for customer growth, coaching and mentoring General Sales Agents and junior team members as needed.

Commercial Excellence & Performance
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to negotiate and delivery complex contract agreements across multiple airfreight trade lanes, services, and pricing tiers.
- Demonstrate data-driven decision-making skills to improve profitability and customer engagement, using CRM and market intelligence tools.
- Achieve agreed financial KPIs and near-perfect customer satisfaction scores through proactive management and continuous improvements.
Innovation & Culture Building
- Champion initiatives to enhance digital distribution platforms and leverage new technologies for smarter business outcomes.
- Actively support talent retention and professional development within IAG Cargo, championing strategic moves aligned with company values.
- Promote, live, and exemplify the IAG Cargo behaviours (determined attitude, curious mind, collaborative spirit, and heartfelt pride).
Preferred Profile
While we'll be making a considered decision based on overall fit, the following profile will empower you for success:
Essential Experience
- 3-4 years plus in airfreight, logistics, or related sectors, ideally with experience in carrier/airlines, freight forwarders, or integrated logistics.
- 3-4 years plus of first-hand account management experience, focusing on relationships with national or multinational customers.
- Demonstrated exposure to dynamic sales environments with historical success managing aggressive KPIs.
- Experience presenting to senior management levels, leading collaborative cross-functional initiatives and fostering strategic vendor/partnership relationships.
Preferred Skills & Attributes

- Strong understanding of the airfreight supply chain, key industry players, and trade dynamics worldwide.
- Comfort with multi-channel input—strategic planning, operational problem-solving, and hands-on relationship dynamics.
- Entrepreneurial energy, proactiveness, and natural urge to seal deals and drive revenue in a competitive field.
- Resilience & adaptability within deal timelines under changing market conditions, able to operate confidently under existing and emerging volumes or crisis situations.
