National Business Development Manager
National Role | Up to £65,000 Basic + Company Car/Allowance + Uncapped Bonus + Excellent Benefits
Not every sales role is about chasing the next order. Some are about opening doors that others can't, winning strategic accounts, influencing major buying decisions, and becoming the person customers trust when the stakes are high. This is one of those opportunities.
We're looking for an experienced National Business Development Manager to join one of the UK's most respected materials handling businesses. This is a high-profile role focused on identifying, developing, and securing major national accounts across multiple sectors, working with some of the country's largest businesses to deliver tailored materials handling solutions.
You'll have the freedom to develop your own strategy, engage with senior decision-makers, and create long-term commercial partnerships that genuinely make a difference to the business.
What you'll be doing
- Winning new national and strategic accounts across the UK.
- Developing relationships with procurement teams, operations directors, and senior stakeholders.
- Managing complex sales cycles from initial contact through to negotiation and implementation.
- Producing commercial proposals and presenting solutions at board level.
- Building long-term account growth strategies.
- Working closely with internal operational teams to ensure exceptional customer delivery.
- Maintaining an accurate sales pipeline and delivering against ambitious growth targets.
- Representing the business professionally throughout the industry.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we're looking for
This is not a role for someone looking to move into the industry. You must already have a successful track record selling within the materials handling sector. We're particularly interested in individuals who have sold forklift trucks, warehouse equipment, intralogistics solutions, or related materials handling products and services.
You'll also have:
- A proven record of winning significant new business.
- Experience managing large national or multi-site customers.
- Strong commercial awareness and excellent negotiation skills.
- The credibility to engage confidently with senior decision-makers.
- A proactive, resilient, and highly self-motivated approach.
- The drive to build lasting customer relationships rather than simply transact sales.
