National Customs Operations Manager – Kuehne+Nagel

How You Create Impact
You will play a leadership role in customising and enhancing customs operations across all business units. Your responsibilities include:
- Lead and oversee national customs operations, ensuring full compliance and operational excellence
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to boost productivity, efficiency, and service quality
- Identify and implement automation, digital solutions, and customs process optimisation
- Support new business onboarding, including RFQs and operational integrations
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, representing operations in key engagements
- Collaborate cross-functionally (with IT, Sales, Compliance, and Operations) to deliver innovative solutions
- Lead and manage strategic projects, ensuring successful implementation and measurable outcomes
- Inspire and develop a high-performing, inclusive team, fostering a strong performance culture

What We Would Like You to Bring
To excel in this role, you should have:
Experience & Knowledge
- Proven experience in customs operations management within logistics or supply chain environments
- Strong knowledge of UK and international customs regulations and compliance requirements
- Demonstrable experience in process optimisation, automation, and continuous improvement
- Ability to shape strategy and drive digital transformation
Leadership & Leadership
- Leadership experience with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop diverse teams
- Strong project management skills, particularly in cross-functional initiatives
- Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills
Technical Proficiency
- Proficiency in customs management systems (e.g., CargoWise or similar platforms)
- Fluent English; additional language skills are an advantage
