Job Summary
NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is a world-leading organisation that saves and improves lives every day through the generosity of donors and the dedication of its people. The National Referral Centre (NRC) plays a vital role in this mission, coordinating donated tissue and eye donations and helping ensure these precious gifts reach patients who need them most.
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Office Manager to join our NRC team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting a complex, fast-paced service that operates 7 days a week, ensuring the smooth coordination of essential administrative functions. Working closely with senior leaders, you will help drive high standards of service delivery while contributing directly to the life-changing work of NHSBT.
Main Duties of the Job
Responsibilities
As the National Referral Centre (NRC) is part of the national tissue donation service, it requires significant administrative support. Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide senior-level administrative support to the National Referral Centre (NRC), a complex service within the national tissue donation programme.
- Work closely with the Head of Service Delivery, NRC Manager and Deputy Managers, with responsibility for the administrative team and its service delivery.
- Lead and maintain high standards of quality, governance, training and performance across the NRC administrative function.
- Operate with a high level of autonomy, using sound judgement and initiative to manage priorities and deliver key service responsibilities.
- Act as a key liaison between the NRC, NHSBT departments, the wider NHS, external agencies and other stakeholders.
About You
Experience and Knowledge
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft systems in order to produce reports, emails, letters, spreadsheets, presentations.
- Demonstrable experience in an administrative role, For Example, experience of data inputting and processing, drafting correspondence, reports, on call rotas and administrative support systems.
- Demonstrable experience of monitoring, developing and amending working procedures.

- Degree or equivalent administrative experience

This is a full time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week based in Liverpool.
