To achieve income and profit objectives through the delivery of efficient case underwriting, ensuring that all underwriting decisions align with internal guidelines, appetite, and regulatory requirements.
Working closely with brokers and internal stakeholders to achieve divisional strategy, financial plan, and personal objectives.
Key Tasks And Responsibilities
- Manage own cases (renewal and/or new business), writing within appetite, and underwriting authority.
- Handle referral cases for Underwriters/Apprentices with less experience, whilst adhering to individual authority level.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of underwriting decisions.
- Support the Company’s QA procedures by conducting case reviews, when required, to ensure that technical procedures and standards are followed.
- Work towards divisional retention, conversion, rate, and loss ratio targets.
- Enhance Arch’s standing and presence nationally by establishing and maintaining strong personal relationships with broking partners.
- Display strong negotiation skills that aid conversion and relationships with all key brokers.
- Maintain and enhance personal knowledge of relevant technical topics.
- Work collaboratively with other parts of the organisation, most notably the UKR regional offices.

Role Requirements & Skills
Skills / Competencies
- At least 2 years' experience in underwriting
- Being able to negotiate flexibly and appropriately
- Effective selling skills
- Strong organisational skills
- Risk Perception
- Pricing of risk accordingly
- Successfully developing effective trading relationships
- Consistently achieving goals and objectives
- Experience working across functions / matrix organisation to collaborate and build strong relationships

Qualifications
- Minimum A level standard preferred
- Professional Certification – progress towards Cert CII preferred
Experience
- The job holder will ideally have experience in the Commercial Insurance industry, strong interpersonal skills, and work in a structured, organised, and planned manner.
