SC Cleared Naval Architect
Contract | Initial 6 Months | Outside IR35 - Hybrid - London/ South Coast
We are supporting a globally recognised engineering and technical assurance organisation delivering complex maritime and defence programmes.
They are seeking an experienced SC Cleared Naval Architect to join a multidisciplinary engineering team, supporting the design, modelling and assurance of complex maritime projects. This role will involve developing detailed 3D models, contributing to engineering design activities, and ensuring solutions meet industry and defence standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed 3D models and engineering designs for complex maritime projects.
- Produce high-quality technical drawings, engineering documentation and design outputs.
- Support vessel design, modification and engineering assurance activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop practical, compliant and innovative engineering solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, providing technical expertise and resolving engineering challenges.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant maritime, defence and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate engineering data, configuration control and design documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the successful delivery of complex engineering programmes.

Essential Experience
- Proven experience as a Naval Architect within the maritime or defence sector.
- Strong 3D modelling and CAD experience gained within complex engineering environments.
- Experience producing engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of vessel design, structural engineering principles and marine systems.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced project environment.
- Current SC Clearance is essential.

Desirable Experience
- Experience working on defence or naval programmes.
- Knowledge of engineering assurance, verification or classification processes.
- Experience using one or more industry-standard 3D modelling packages such as AVEVA Marine, FORAN, Siemens NX, AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar.
- Chartered status (CEng) or working towards professional accreditation.
