NBS—part of Hubexo—supports architects, specifiers, manufacturers, and construction professionals through specification software, product information, and trusted digital tools. Our Specifier proposition helps practices improve how specifications are created, managed, and delivered across projects.
We are looking for a Head of NBS Specifier Business Development to lead a team of Business Development Managers and Business Development Representatives, driving new business growth across the UKI construction market.
The Role
This is a hands-on sales leadership role with accountability for revenue, pipeline quality, forecasting, team coaching, sales standards, and daily management routines ensuring performance excellence.
Core Responsibilities
You will lead and support a new business sales team responsible for selling Hubexo’s data, insights, and software portfolio, focusing specifically on NBS Specifier.
- Sales leadership: Set conditions and expectations for consistent sales performance, ensuring conversations with customers emphasize value over features.
- Team support: Collaborate with BDMs, BDRs, Marketing, Customer Success, Product, Revenue Operations, and other commercial teams to enhance sales execution and customer engagement.
- Pipeline focus: Owns pipeline quality, coverage, movement, and conversion.
- Coaching responsible: Conduct one-to-one discussions, call reviews, opportunity reviews, pipeline reviews, role-plays, and client preparation.
- Feedback culture: Provide clear, timely, and constructive feedback to improve team performance.
- Performance discipline: Address underperformance early via coaching, support, action plans, and formal management where required.
- CRM management: Ensure HubSpot or the agreed CRM is used accurately, with up-to-date records, opportunity stages, notes, and forecasts.
- Market-driven improvements: Use insights to refine sales strategies, propositions, messaging, and alignment with internal decision-making.
- Cross-functional alignment: Work closely with Marketing, Customer Success, Product, Revenue Operations, and wider Hubexo teams for better customer engagement and execution.
- Talent development: Support recruitment, onboarding, development, and retention of sales talent when necessary.

- Assist customers in understanding how NBS Specifier improves specifications, efficiency, decision-making, and build quality.
- Foster a high-accountability sales culture, where teams understand performance standards, take ownership, and continuously improve.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Manage and support a team of Business Development Managers and Representatives.
- Own team goals aligned with revenue, new business, and growth targets.
- Convert sales targets into individual expectations, activity plans, and performance frameworks.
- Monitor team performance using data to pinpoint risks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Enforce consistent sales standards in prospecting, qualifying, discovery, value selling, negotiating, and closing.
- Improve forecasting accuracy through systematic CRM inspection, coaching, and evidence-based decision-making.
- Challenge weak pipeline assumptions and help the team develop sustainable future opportunities.
- Provide structured feedback via coaching, performance discussions, and formal interventions when needed.
- Ensure CRM transparency, with accurate data input for tracking, progress, and reporting.
- ** leverage customer insights** and market feedback to refine sales strategies and propositions.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Customer Success, Product, Revenue Operations, and Hubexo teams.
- Participate in recruitment, training, and talent retention.
About You
Essential Experience & Skills
✔ Strong background in B2B sales team leadership ✔ Proven track record of delivering sales performance through others ✔ Ability to coach colleagues on prospecting, qualification, discovery, valuation, negotiation, and closing ✔ Deep understanding of pipeline management, forecasting, CRM use, and sales performance frameworks ✔ Proficient in using HubSpot or a similar CRM system for performance tracking, pipeline, and reporting. ✔ Skilled at data analysis to interpret insights and guide actionable decision-making. ✔ Sets clear expectations and holds people accountable with a direct yet fair approach. ✔ Experience in performance coaching, underperformance management, and supporting improvement plans. ✔ Balances speed and quality in challenging environments while maintaining discipline.
