Independent Domestic & Sexual Violence Advocate – Maternity Cover
Job Overview
CNWL Sexual Health Services are recruiting an Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocate (IDSVA) to provide maternity cover and support patients aged 16 and over experiencing domestic and sexual violence. The role is based within the Safeguarding Team and involves:
- Providing risk assessment, safety planning, and advocacy
- Supporting patients living in Barnet, Camden, Haringey, or Islington
- Close collaboration with clinical and safeguarding staff
- Clinic-based response to disclosures with multidisciplinary teamwork
- Offering training, advice, and guidance to staff on domestic and sexual violence
Main Duties
The IDSVA will:
- Deliver advocacy and risk assessment for patients experiencing domestic and sexual violence
- Develop and implement safety plans
- Work collaboratively with clinical, safeguarding, and multidisciplinary teams
- Provide training, advice, and guidance to staff to strengthen service responses
- Maintain accurate records and compliance with safeguarding processes

About the Role
We’re seeking a motivated Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocate (or working towards accreditation) with strong:
- Safeguarding expertise
- Multi-agency working skills
- Ability to support vulnerable clients in a non-judgemental, non-directive, and anti-discriminatory manner

Values and Behaviours (Essential)
- Non-judgemental, non-directive, and anti-discriminatory approach; empowering vulnerable clients

Education and Qualifications (Essential)
- CAADA/Safe Lives/Women’s Aid IDVA, ISVA, or DAPA qualification (or demonstrable significant experience in supporting survivors)
- Evidence of continuing professional development and relevant qualifications/training
Experience (Essential)
- Experience within the domestic abuse (DA) sector
Desirable:
- Experience in sexual health services
Skills and Knowledge (Essential)
- In-depth knowledge of issues affecting individuals experiencing domestic and/or sexual abuse
- Working knowledge of relevant safeguarding legislation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for multi-stakeholder engagement
