About the Role

As an NDT Inspection Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting high‑quality inspection activities while serving as the company‑appointed Senior Radiation Protection Supervisor. You will work as part of Bilfinger’s NDT Technical Department, contributing to the development of the company’s inspection capability, including the adoption of various innovative technologies, and benefiting from continuous professional development opportunities to support your growth in both technical and management aspects of NDT operations and leadership.

Preference for the role is to be office‑based at the Bilfinger offices in Aberdeen, with an office/hybrid working arrangement available. Fully remote working may be considered for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

The role combines Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) expertise with senior responsibility for radiation protection across all company operations, ensuring that all NDT activities are executed to a high technical standard while maintaining full compliance with radiation safety legislation, company procedures, and recognised industry best practice.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and support across all company NDT activities and inspection methods.
  • Develop, review, and optimise NDT techniques, procedures, and inspection plans.
  • Manage the selection, verification, and effective use of NDT equipment to support quality inspections.
  • Mentor and support NDT personnel to strengthen competency and inspection quality.
  • Oversee the safe use of ionising radiation as the company‑appointed Senior Radiation Protection Supervisor.
  • Implement and enforce radiation protection procedures, local rules, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct radiation monitoring, safety checks, and dose assessments to ensure safe operations.
  • Coordinate with the Radiation Protection Adviser and regulatory bodies on compliance and safety matters.
  • Lead incident response, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives related to NDT and radiation safety.

Quality & Competencies

  • Experience in industrial NDT experience (3 years in-service).
  • ISO 9712 Radiographic Testing Level 2 (Weld Inspection).
  • PCN Advanced Radiation Safety Level 2.
  • Minimum 3 years practical CR/DR radiography experience.
  • Local or commuting distance to our Aberdeen Office.
