Job Description
Note: Role may be remote or hybrid, subject to location.
You might think you know NEC (previously Northgate Public Services) and our housing management platform, NEC Housing, but don’t be so sure! Since 2018, we’ve invested over £61m in NEC Housing—continuing with over £8.5m annual investment—to ensure it leads the sector. Our platform is now the housing management solution of choice for providers.
Our Pre-Sales Consultants work with current and prospective social housing clients to ensure they fully grasp every aspect of the platform—and maximise its benefits. These consultants collaborate across teams to:
- Shape tailored solutions
- Respond to tenders
- Deliver engaging demonstrations
- Address client needs through research and insight
This role demands a deep passion for the social housing sector, the issues it faces, and how our NEC Housing platform meets those challenges.
Responsibilities
As a Pre-Sales Consultant at NEC, you’ll be central to our client engagement strategy. Key responsibilities include:
- Tailoring solutions: Designing the best approach for NEC Housing, based on each client’s business requirements and organisational architecture.
- Demonstrations: Planning and managing engaging platform demonstrations for prospects and existing clients. Ensure content aligns with their goals and conveys value clearly.
- Cross-team collaboration: Liaising with the sales team to outline client needs, pre- and post-demonstration.
- Bid responses: Assisting bid teams with accurate, professional proposals, collaborating across NEC departments.
- Platform governance: Staying current with NEC Housing updates through research and self-driven learning. Configuring demo versions to reflect the latest features.
- Market insights: Researching client operations, engaging stakeholders, and tailoring sessions for relevance.
- Expertise: Serving as a technical advisor for sales colleagues, gathering feedback from clients for the Product Management team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
