NEC Project Manager
Project Manager (NEC ECC Contracts) – Water & Flood Defence Schemes

About the Role
Arcadis is seeking a Project Manager with expertise in managing NEC ECC contracts to join our Water teams, specialising in flood defence schemes. Responsible for some of the world’s most complex projects, the Project Manager (NEC ECC) will play a crucial role in delivering high-impact schemes across water, civil engineering, and utilities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality.
Our Resilience team is focused on combating climate change impacts—accelerating flood defence and water sustainability efforts. From urban flooding threats to wildfire resilience, we power a sustainable future.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage NEC4/NEC3 ECC contracts:
- Project manage civil engineering, water and utilities projects in compliance with NEC4/ECC (Engineering and Construction Contract) frameworks.
- Support early contractual advice and contract administration during construction phases.
- Collaborative stakeholdership:
- Work closely with clients, contractors, consultants, and third parties to ensure on-time, on-budget, high-quality delivery.
- Resolve construction issues:
- Provide technical oversight and strategic decision-making (aligned with industry standards and NEC terms).
- Risk Identification & Mitigation:
- Monitor project progress, assess risks to schedule, quality & cost, and implement timely resolutions.
- Reallocate resources and finances effectively to support project success.
- Reporting & Transparency:
- Deliver high-quality management reports that support operational planning, business decisions, and strategic partnerships.
- Quality & Safety Leadership:
- Drive integrated project solutions, promote health & safety standards, and ensure service excellence.

Requirements
Experience
- Proven expertise in project management and NEC ECC contract administration.
- Strong track record in civil engineering, utilities, water or environmental projects.
- Hands-on experience with NEC contract forms (NEC3 or NEC4 credentials highly beneficial).
- Appreciated: Flood Risk Management experience or civil engineering background.

Professional Affiliations
- Membership of:
- Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
- Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
- Association of Project Management (APM)
- Water & Environmental Management (CIWEM) is advantageous.
- NEC Accredited Project Manager certification is for preference.
