Neighbourhood Caretaker
Neighbourhood Caretaker – Ladywood Regeneration Meanwhile Phase
Permanent role Grade B – £28,598 - £34,434 (Consultation grade – subject to formal evaluation under the Equal Pay Programme)
Hours: 36.5 per week
About the Role
The Ladywood Regeneration Meanwhile phase will require increased effort in maintaining the public realm, particularly during active development. This will demand heightened attention from residents, partners, and media. Through the Resident & Community Charter and the Meanwhile Offer, the Council has committed to:
- Maintaining high standards of estate cleanliness
- Reducing fly-tipping
- Creating safer communal spaces
- Ensuring a visible on-site presence throughout regeneration
To deliver on these commitments, we are seeking a dedicated Neighbourhood Caretaker to play a key role in maintaining and improving the local environment while advising on development.
Why this role matters:
- Regeneration is long-term; sustained neighbourhood management ensures residents retain confidence in the process.
- Existing resources are reactive rather than proactive, making a focused role essential for consistency in service delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
