Ipswich Borough Council is looking for a Neighbourhood Team Manager (Sheltered Housing and Tenancy Support).
Are you passionate about social housing and making a real difference to the lives of tenants? We currently have a rare opportunity within our Tenancy Services Team to undertake the role of Neighbourhood Team Manager, with a specific focus on leading our Sheltered Housing and Tenancy Support Services.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership across two vital service areas that support some of our most vulnerable tenants to live independently, safely and successfully within their homes and communities. Working within a wider management team you will help ensure continuity of service, support operational delivery and contribute to the ongoing development of these specialist services.
Through leading our Sheltered Housing and Tenancy Support teams, you will play a key role in promoting resident wellbeing, tenancy sustainment and service excellence. You will support and develop frontline officers, ensure compliance with housing and safety standards, and oversee the delivery of high-quality services that place tenants at the heart of everything we do.
Whilst our service maintains the highest standards of professionalism, we also encourage colleagues to be themselves, bring new ideas and enjoy what they do. Working alongside dedicated teams and experienced managers, you will have the opportunity to influence service delivery, contribute to service improvements and support our response to the evolving Social Housing Regulatory Framework.
No two days are ever the same in social housing, and this role offers a rewarding combination of operational leadership, resident engagement, partnership working and service improvement. Resilience, empathy and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service will be key attributes for success.
The day-to-day focus of the role will be the leadership and co-ordination of our Sheltered Housing and Tenancy Support Services, ensuring that performance, compliance and customer service standards continue to be delivered to a high standard.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
