About the Role

Are you passionate about people, places, and making communities thrive? Do you enjoy being out in the community, listening to residents, tackling challenges, and creating real, lasting impact?

Join Hammersmith & Fulham Council as a Neighbourhoods & Communities Officer and play a central role in shaping safer, happier, and more vibrant neighbourhoods.

This is a hands-on, vital role where no two days are the same. You’ll be the trusted advocate for your patch of around 400 households, building stronger relationships, supporting residents to sustain their tenancies, and driving improvements that make estates cleaner, safer, and healthier.

If you thrive on variety, responsibility, and seeing real change—this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be the visible face of the council in your assigned community, acting as a guardian of your estate with the following key responsibilities:

  • Build trust and visibility

    • Establish deep relationships with residents across your patch, ensuring they recognise, trust, and rely on you as their first point of contact.
    • Be a calm, friendly, and authoritative presence who solves problems thoughtfully and empathetically.
  • Lead neighbourhood management

    • Oversee repairs, estate services, and community improvements to enhance living spaces.
    • Address emergency issues (e.g., safety hazards, anti-social behaviour) with urgency and care.
  • Support vulnerable residents

    • Identify safeguarding concerns and connect residents with the right services and support.
    • Manage tenancy changes (successions, mutual exchanges, joint tenancies) and provide clear, practical housing advice.
  • Drive tenant retention and development

    • Welcome new tenants through sign-ups, viewings, and six-week visits, setting them up for success in their homes.
    • Manage Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) cases and tenancy enforcement, working with partners to resolve issues effectively.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

*Usage note: The primary spell correct form of a word in British or European English is not necessarily the same as in General American or North American English.

For example, between ‘UK’ and ‘US’ there are often differences in spellings such as:

  • ‘organise’ vs. ‘organize’
  • ‘theatre’ vs. ‘theater’
  • ‘labour’ vs. ‘labor’

Kept all such spellings from the text as 'British'.
