Neonatal Community Sister (Maternity Cover – Until 18th May 2027)
Department: Paediatrics Grade & Salary: Band 6, £39,959 - £48,117 per annum (pro rata) Hours: 22.5 per week (flexible working opportunities available for all roles)
About the Role & Team
The Neonatal Community Nursing team is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated Children’s trained nurse with experience in acute neonatal care and community-based nursing to join our friendly, dynamic team.
Attached to a Local Neonatal Unit within the Thames Valley Network, our unit consists of:
- 16 cots
- 5 Intensive/High Dependency care beds
- 11 Special Care beds
Our community-based service facilitates seamless transitions for babies from hospital to home, delivering high-quality, evidence-based, family-centred care for both inpatient and community settings.

The successful applicant will:
- Have experience in the nursing care of neonates from admission through to discharge.
- Demonstrate expertise in coordinating care and discharge planning.
- Show a commitment to continuing professional development.
- Exhibit excellent communication, role modelling, and leadership skills.
- Ideally, have experience in community neonatal nursing and competency in:
- Planning, implementing, and assessing care for babies with complex conditions (e.g., chronic lung disease).
- Home-based care for neonates transitioning out of prolonged hospital care.
Essential Requirement:
- A valid UK driving licence (clean — essential for community-based work).
