Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for nurses who are passionate and enthusiastic about Neonatal care to join our team.
The Neonatal Unit at Frimley Park Hospital is a Local Neonatal Unit made up of 2 Intensive Care, 3 High Dependency and 11 Special Care cots. The unit cares for babies over 26+6 weeks gestation and stabilises any baby under that gestation, to be transferred to a tertiary hospital/ NICU.
We are in a position to be able to support an experienced neonatal nurse to undertake the QIS course in 2024.
Our team aspires to provide high quality and evidence based; clinical, developmental and family integrated care in order to ensure the best outcomes for our babies and their families.
Main duties of the job
- To provide the highest quality care for babies and their families.
- To assist the senior nursing staff in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of paediatric care for an allocated group of patients from admission through to discharge or transfer.
- Assess, prioritise, plan, deliver and evaluate safe and competent and specialised Neonatal family-centred care to the babies, throughout the unit. This will include intensive, high dependency and special care and will be done under the supervision of senior nursing staff.
- Act as an advocate and resource for nursing, medical and allied professionals to ensure that the most appropriate and specialist Neonatal nursing care is delivered at all times.
- Maintain legible, timely and complete records that are kept in a safe environment in accordance with Trust policy, NMC Code of Conduct and national guidance.

Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse /Midwife/Child Branch/RSCN
- Evidence of continuing education & professional development
Desirable criteria
- Degree in Nursing or other relevant field or can demonstrate experience of working to this level
- Mentorship qualification
- Specialty qualification - Intensive Care of the Newborn or equivalent
- Child Protection Training
Skills
Essential criteria
- Able to prioritise and work in an organised way with excellent time management skills
- Proven oral and written communication skills
Desirable criteria
- IT Literate
Experience

- Some experience of working with families
- Working in acute care in a hospital setting.
