About The Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Backend Engineer to join our client's dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the development and operation of high-performance AI-powered products. The successful candidate will primarily focus on building, reviewing, and maintaining production-grade code within a microservices architecture. While this position is hands-on and technical, there is a clear pathway for broader responsibilities, including architecture leadership, mentoring, and potentially advancing into a principal or technical lead role within 12 to 18 months. This is not a managerial position but a vital technical contributor role that offers growth and development in a rapidly evolving environment.
Qualifications
- Strong professional experience with C# and modern .NET frameworks (version 8+ preferred).
- Hands-on experience with Blazor in production environments.
- Proficiency in designing, deploying, and operating microservices architectures.
- Experience working with Azure cloud services, including App Service, Container Apps, Azure SQL, Service Bus, and Key Vault.
- Familiarity with Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) management.
- Experience with Azure DevOps Pipelines for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
- Understanding of API gateway patterns and API security best practices.
- Knowledge of OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect protocols with a security-conscious approach.
- Experience with Jira or Azure DevOps for project management and delivery tracking.
- Practical experience integrating AI components into production services, including prompt design, model versioning, evaluation, and managing trade-offs related to cost and latency.
- Fluency with Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tools.
- Legal eligibility to work in the UK is mandatory.

Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and maintain robust, scalable backend services using C# and .NET technologies.
- Design and implement microservices architectures that support AI-powered functionalities.
- Operate and monitor production systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI models and components into the platform.
- Implement API gateway patterns and enforce security protocols such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
- Utilize Azure cloud services and Terraform to manage infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to technical documentation and best practices for development and deployment.
- Stay updated on emerging AI and cloud technologies to continually enhance platform capabilities.
- Support the team in troubleshooting and resolving production issues promptly.
