Job Summary
The Network Design Automation Engineer will support the transformation of Equinix’s Network Design organization by developing automation, software, and AI-enabled solutions that reduce manual engineering work and improve network design efficiency.
This role is best suited for someone with strong software development and automation potential who wants to build deeper expertise in network design within a global interconnection environment. The engineer will work with Network Design, Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to translate business and product requirements into practical technical solutions that help scale and optimize Equinix’s network infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Develop scripts, tools, and automation solutions to streamline repetitive network design and planning activities
- Use Python, Go, APIs, AI tools, and data-driven approaches to improve engineering workflows
- Support network design work by translating product and business requirements into practical technical solutions
- Analyze network planning, capacity, and operational data to support forecasting and decision-making
- Build dashboards, reports, and visualizations that improve visibility into network performance and capacity
- Assist with integrating planning platforms, operational systems, data sources, and automation workflows
- Collaborate with Network Design, Product, Engineering, Operations, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Document technical requirements, workflows, assumptions, dependencies, and risks
- Research emerging technologies in AI, automation, cloud networking, and network engineering
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on scalability, efficiency, standardization, and innovation
- Build knowledge of Equinix interconnection products including Equinix Fabric, Internet Exchange, Metro Connect, and Equinix Internet Access

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Network Engineering, Data Science, AI, or a related technical field
- Relevant internship, academic, project, or professional experience in software development, automation, networking, or data analysis
- Programming experience with Python; Go experience
- Basic understanding of networking fundamentals such as IP networking, routing, switching, or network architecture
- Experience or strong interest in automation, APIs, scripting, AI tools, machine learning, or data analytics
- Ability to learn quickly, solve problems, and work in a fast-changing technical environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Curiosity, innovation mindset, and interest in applying automation to improve network engineering processes
