About The Role
This role will be responsible for creating and testing detailed network designs in support of multi-million pound contracts on business and UK critical networks. This will be across a variety of technologies, platforms and services including IPP, Mobile, Ethernet, IP Connect and UK Fabric. You’ll be part of a team that delivers the network expertise underpinning the UK’s business telecommunications.
This role is based in Ipswich & requires 3 days in the office
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Network Professional, you’ll work with Product and Platform Specialists and Business owners to determine solutions, solve problems and deliver network expertise to the business. This will include various networking technologies, developing solutions, documenting designs, testing designs and code variants to deploy on BT’s networks and services.
Specifically, this role is accountable for:
- Design and develop new solutions for IPP
- Hands on testing and validation of designs for IPP and CPE devices.
- Working directly with BT’s Operational, Platform and External peers to ensure TSA Compliance and refresh of the network.
- Network Design using a wide range of IP protocols.
- Network Testing of designs using traffic generators and analysers.
- Design and Test for other platforms and Products such as Mobile, IP Connect and UK Fabric in a multi-skilled team.

Essential Skills / Experience
Mandatory
- Hands on experience in the design and testing of IP protocols.
- Experience in technical document writing.
- Problem solving skills and the ability to debug network issues.
- Knowledge of test generators and analysers.
- Knowledge and experience of routing and switching technologies.
Expected
- Knowledge of IP routing protocols.
- Proven ability to install, connect and configure test models.
- Good communication skills, reporting to senior managers.
- Knowledge of software skills and languages including Git, Python and Jinja2
- Knowledge of Jira project management and Agile working
Desirable Skills / Experience
- IP Certification (CCNA/JNCA)
- Experience of full the development lifecycle from requirement capture through to deployment and in life support.
- Experience of YANG network models
- Experience with gNMI, gRPC, JSON.
- Member of a professional body e.g. Institution of Engineering and Technology
- Demonstrable experience with Python (or similar) programming language.
- Demonstrable experience with Jinja2 templating.
