The Opportunity

In this full-time (12-month FTC) Network Engineer role, you’ll deliver third-line operational network support within our IT - Platforms Network Team, ensuring the continued availability, reliability, and security of our global systems. This is a hybrid role based in our Glasgow office.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Respond to, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues raised via our Ticket system.
  • Ensure the efficient, globally aligned running of Business As Usual (BAU) network operations.
  • Hold top-level ownership of WAN and LAN technologies, including collaboration with vendors and cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure Ashurst Perkins Coie’s network meets required security standards and controls.
  • Support new technology implementations while balancing BAU and project-based work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work on a rotating on-call rota (covering weekend and out-of-hours maintenance).

Full-time hours: 9:00 am – 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with additional overtime and on-call commitments expected.


Who You Are: Essential Requirements

To excel in this role, you must have:

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for complex network, system security issues.
  • Demonstrable in-depth network experience, particularly:
    • Design and implementation of multi-site LAN and WAN.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of:
    • Cisco switching, Nexus 3k & 9k devices.
    • Routing protocols, including BGP, EIGRP, OSPF.
  • In-depth experience with:
    • Wireless technologies, global Aruba deployments.
    • CCNP or CCIE certification, or equivalent.
    • Leading firewall technologies (Palo Alto, Fortinet).
    • Layer 7 security technology implementation.
  • Extensive experience with WAN accelerators (Riverbed/Steelhead).
  • Knowledge of MPLS networks and VPN solutions.
  • Experience with QoS implementation and troubleshooting in a Cisco environment.
  • Ability to liaise with third parties for fault resolution and root cause analysis (RCA).
  • In-depth proficiency with monitoring tools, including:
    • SolarWinds NPM & NTA, Cisco Prime, F5 (LTM, GTM, APM), BIG-IP.
