Senior Network Engineer – Enterprise IT (MAME Platform Group)

About the Role

You’ll join Metrea Management Limited’s MAME Platform Group IT Engineering—responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting the global enterprise network infrastructure that enables mission systems.

Position Summary

As a Senior Network Engineer across hybrid, cloud, and on-premises environments, you’ll:

  • Own the architecture, security, and reliability of Metrea’s critical communication networks.
  • Partner with cybersecurity, cloud operations, and support teams to safeguard classified environments.
  • Thrive in a high-paced cybersecurity setting, taking hands-on ownership of complex challenges as a leadership role.

Responsibilities

Core Engineering Tasks

  • Design and Deploy Network Infrastructure
    • Plan, implement, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points (classified/unclassified).
    • Configure and optimize LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, and VPN solutions using:
      • Cisco (Catalyst, Nexus)
      • Aruba
      • Palo Alto firewalls
  • Secure Mission Networks
    • Enforce network security controls (firewall policies, IDS/IPS, NAC, micro-segmentation, 802.1x authentication) aligned with:
      • NIST, CMMC, ISO 27001
      • Cyber Essentials
      • DEFSTAN 05-177 (UK MoD)—expected in role
    • Support hybrid and cloud networking across AWS and Azure:
      • VNETs, VPCs, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, and security groups.
  • Advanced Wireless Enablement
    • Deploy and manage enterprise wireless networks (802.11ax/Wi-Fi 6, controllers, WPA3), including:
      • SSID/VLAN configurations
      • RADIUS integration
  • Troubleshooting & Uptime Assurance
    • Perform Tier 2/3 incident response and root-cause analysis to achieve 99.99% availability.
    • Develop policy-free troubleshooting skills across complex layer-2/3 infrastructure.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Introduce innovation to support growing Metrea scale while preserving core 39999 availability.
    • Drive adoption of industry-leading network monitoring, automation, and AI/ML-driven diagnostics.

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Operate as a Service Ownership Tech Lead in cross-functional teams:
    • Systems Administration
    • DevOps
    • Security & SOC
    • Engineering/Vendor Teams
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation:
    • Network diagrams
    • Runbooks & SOPs
    • Post-incident reports & lessons learned
  • coordinate vendor engagement (Cisco, Palo Alto, Avaya, etc.) for network hardware/software fixes.

Requirements & Qualifications

Mandatory Experience

  • 5–8 years designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise networks (≥500 endpoints across multiple sites).
  • Deep command of core networking fundamentals:
    • TCP/IP model
    • OSI layer stack 1–7 (protocol-objective mapping)
    • Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
    • Switching technologies: VLANs (private/PVLANs), STP protocols, VxLAN (EVPN), MPLS (basic)
  • languages:
    • Operating system proficiency: Windows Server/Linux
  • Hands-on expertise with:
    • Cisco Aruba (Wireless) and Catalyst/Nexus switches/routers.
    • Palo Alto firewalls (or Fortinet/Netscreen equivalent).
    • VPN technologies: IPSec, SSL/TLS (remote access & site-to-site).
    • Security domains:
      • DNS, DHCP, IPAM (BestChoice ilk)
      • Network segmentation & zero-trust principles.
    • Wireless: 802.11ac/ax, NetGEAR/Nutanix wireless controllers/application policies.
  • Automation awareness:
    • Worked with Python, Powershell, Ansible/Puppet in basic automation scripts.

    • CNP-C/Master Network Engineer or CCNA Enterprise Profesional.

    • Azure VNETs, AWS VPC route tables, and route optimization.
    • Hybrid security frameworks: S2S VPNs for classified data.
  • Regulatory alignment:
    • Familiarity with:
      • NIST 800-171/CMMC v2.0
      • ISO/PISCES/GDPR-hardness domains
    • Experience with DoD’s ITAR or UK’s DEFSTAN 05-1065 regimes.
  • Advanced communication tools:
    • Zero-trust networking (ZTNA), SASE, or SD-WAN (VeloCloud, Silverpeak)
  • Database + data pipeline knowledge (atm):
    • Monitoring/analyzing logs via SIEM platforms (Splunk, QRadar).
