Location: Birmingham (primary), with options for Shoreham by Sea or Exeter
Working Pattern: Hybrid, with periodic travel to Birmingham expected
Internal Job Level: Specialist
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

The Role
We are seeking an experienced 3rd Line Engineer - Networking to join our Managed Services team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a networking specialist with experience across Meraki, LAN and WAN technologies who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and acting as a senior escalation point within a busy support environment.

You'll be responsible for managing your own caseload of high-level incidents and service requests while providing technical guidance to 2nd Line Engineers and supporting the wider service desk with complex networking issues.
Working closely with customer IT teams, carriers, connectivity providers, project teams and field engineers, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining and improving customer infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and resolve complex networking incidents and service requests.
- Act as an escalation point for 2nd Line Engineers.
- Troubleshoot LAN and WAN environments, including routing, switching and SD-WAN.
- Support and administer Meraki MX, MS and MR technologies.
- Design and implement network changes following change management processes.
- Liaise with ISPs, carriers and connectivity suppliers to drive fault resolution.
- Investigate recurring issues and identify permanent solutions.
- Support project handovers into business-as-usual support.
- Mentor and support junior engineers.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives and technical best practice.

Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Strong experience supporting Meraki MX, MS and MR solutions.
- Advanced understanding of routing and switching technologies.
- Experience with VLANs, STP, inter-VLAN routing and link aggregation.
- Strong SD-WAN deployment and troubleshooting experience.
- Knowledge of MPLS, broadband, leased lines and failover technologies.
- Experience supporting firewall solutions including Meraki, Cisco or Fortinet.
- CCNA certification or equivalent practical experience.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- CCNP certification.
- Meraki accreditation (CMNA/CMNO).
- Wireless and RF design experience.
- Network automation or scripting experience.
- ITIL Foundation certification.
- Experience with SANs, VoIP and structured cabling.
