Network Engineer
Network Engineer
Work on Technology That Protects What Matters
At SiXworks, we build secure digital solutions that support Defence and National Security missions. Our teams work on complex problems where reliability, security, and speed of innovation matter.
We’re looking for a Network Engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical challenges and wants their work to have real operational impact.
What You’ll Do
As a Network Engineer, your work will bridge cloud-native infrastructure engineering and platform networking, working on both traditional underlay networking and software-defined networking within a Kubernetes architecture. You will be the glue that keeps containerised, and cloud-hosted services up and running, responsible for:
- Configuring and maintaining cloud platform infrastructure, virtual networking resources, and automation workflows from inception to optimisation.
- Participating in an on-call rotation to ensure incidents can be swiftly resolved.
Your work may include:
- Engaging and improving the operations and implementation of secure cloud platform network systems.
- Maintaining, securing, and debugging cross-cluster communications in an air-gapped Kubernetes infrastructure.
- Scaling systems sustainably through automation, and evolving systems by implementing changes that improve network reliability, security, and performance.
What We’re Looking For
We value personnel who take ownership, think critically, and enjoy collaborating on complex challenges.
While you don’t need to tick every box, we’re particularly interested in candidates with the following skills/experience:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
