Network Maintenance Manager Location: Northern Ireland (NI) Terms: Permanent, full-time
The Role
We are seeking a Network Maintenance Manager to lead the Network Maintenance department, ensuring its readiness to respond to telecoms network maintenance activities. This is a hands-on role with a high level of technical competency required. The successful candidate will hold ownership for their area of responsibility and may be required to work weekends on a rota basis.
What Will You Be Doing?
The Network Maintenance Manager will oversee a variety of critical responsibilities, including:
Team & Operational Leadership
- Manage the Network Maintenance team, ensuring KPIs are met, and staffing issues are resolved
- Upskill team members, addressing training gaps and mentoring for high performance
- Develop processes and workflows to optimise efficiency, prioritise jobs, and ensure adherence to SLAs (Service Level Agreements)
- Manage the standby callout rota, ensuring coverage for after-hours emergencies
- Oversee fault investigation and resolution—identifying root causes, reporting damage, and supervising repairs
Cross-Departmental Coordination
- Plan and coordinate external network works to support other departments
- Schedule, attend, and monitor site activities to ensure conformance with project standards
- Act as a liaison between commercial, network ownership, and third-party subcontractors

Technical & Safety Compliance
- Maintain or amplify expert technical knowledge (especially on fibre optics, cabling, splicing, and testing)
- Implement standard compliance systems (SSRA, street works permits, audits, etc.)
- Ensure Health & Safety (H&S) protocols are followed at all times
Reporting & Risk Management
- Utilise systems/software (including GIS/network mapping tools, GIS) to generate performance reports for stakeholders
- Monitor financial records, track financial outputs, and liaise with accounting/commercial teams
- Maintain a risk register, predicting and mitigating delays or contractual issues
Qualifications & Experience
We’re looking for candidates who demonstrate:
- 2+ years in a management role, with proven track record in reactive maintenance operations
- Deep expertise in fibre networks, including cabling, splicing, and fault testing
- Technical fluency and ability to advise on complex telecoms challenges
- SCHEDULING EXPERTISE—balancing budgets, timelines, and service quality
- Proven negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
- Proficiency with texts Microsoft Office (Excel/Word), strong IT literacy
- Full UK driving licence for travel between sites (including after-hours compliance)
- Experience using geospatial or network-mapping software tools
- Ability to work flexible hours, including emergency site visits
