Do you thrive on organisation, problem-solving and making a real impact on your local community? Wiltshire Council is looking for a proactive and detail-focused Network Permit Officer to help keep our highway network moving safely and efficiently.

This vital role, you will manage and assess a high volume of streetworks and permit applications, ensuring compliance with the New Roads and Street Works Act, the Traffic Management Act and Wiltshire’s Permit Scheme. Working closely with Network Coordinators, utilities, contractors and internal teams, you will balance the need for essential works with the smooth operation of the county’s road network.

As a key member of the Network Management team, you will review permit applications, set appropriate conditions, challenge proposed methods and durations of work, and identify non-compliance when necessary. Alongside this, you will provide technical advice to stakeholders, elected members and the public, helping to ensure excellent customer service and transparent communication.

We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of streetworks legislation and network management principles, excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret regulations and apply them to complex, ever-changing situations are essential.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
