Network Security Consultant
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Network Security Consultant based in United Kingdom.
This part-time opportunity is ideal for an experienced network security professional who wants to shape the future of AI-powered security solutions. In this role, you will contribute your deep operational expertise to help design intelligent tools that accurately reflect real-world network security workflows and decision-making. Working closely with product managers and AI specialists, you will bridge technical knowledge and product innovation while influencing the development of solutions used by enterprise security teams. The position offers a collaborative, remote-first environment with meaningful impact on cutting-edge AI initiatives and the flexibility of a temporary engagement with potential for extension.
Accountabilities
- Define and document the day-to-day responsibilities, workflows, and operational practices of enterprise network security engineers across a variety of industries and organizational sizes.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on network security operations, providing guidance on firewall management, cloud and SASE security, policy lifecycle management, compliance, vulnerability management, troubleshooting, and security operations.
- Collaborate with product managers and AI engineering teams to transform domain expertise into AI-driven capabilities, use cases, acceptance criteria, and product enhancements.
- Review, validate, and improve AI-generated outputs to ensure technical accuracy, practical relevance, and alignment with real-world enterprise environments.
- Develop realistic test scenarios and operational examples that support the design, validation, and continuous improvement of AI-powered security solutions.
- Contribute strategic insights that help capture institutional knowledge and translate complex security practices into scalable AI-driven workflows.

Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience as a senior network engineer, network security engineer, or network team lead within a large enterprise or service provider.
- Extensive hands-on expertise in firewall management, including policy design, rule lifecycle management, recertification, optimization, and operational governance.
- Strong experience working in complex or highly regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, telecommunications, manufacturing, or similar enterprise environments.
- Solid knowledge of modern networking technologies, including cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP), SASE, SD-WAN, hybrid infrastructures, and leading firewall platforms such as Palo Alto, Check Point, Fortinet, or Cisco.
- Experience with compliance frameworks, vulnerability management, change management, and enterprise network security processes.
- Familiarity with network security management platforms is considered an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical thinking, documentation skills, collaborative mindset, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced, innovation-driven environments.
- Based in the EMEA region with fluent professional English.
