Network Security Engineer
Location: Belfast or Glasgow | Contract: Hybrid Salary: £55,000 - £65,000
A leading Managed Services and Cyber Security provider is seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to join their expanding team.
In a specialist Network Security function, you’ll provide 3rd Line support across a diverse customer base, resolving intricate firewall and security incidents while collaborating with Security Architects. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong security background, passionate about troubleshooting, customer engagement, and enterprise technologies.
The Role
As a Network Security Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 3rd Line technical support for network security incidents
- Configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise firewall solutions
- Supporting the following technologies:
- Palo Alto
- Fortinet
- Check Point
- F5
- Juniper
- Conducting firewall rule reviews, policy optimisation, and security hardening
- Troubleshooting VPN connectivity (IPSec & SSL VPN)
- Investigating and resolving complex network and security issues
- Delivering technical solutions directly to customers
- Creating technical documentation and assisting with change management
- Collaborating with Security Architects on customer projects as needed

About You
Essential qualifications and experience include:
- A background in Network Security or Infrastructure Security, preferably in MSP or customer-facing environments
- Hands-on experience with:
- Palo Alto Firewalls, Fortinet, Check Point, F5, Juniper SRX
- TCP/IP, Routing, VLANs, NAT
- VPN technologies (IPSec & SSL)
- Firewall troubleshooting and policy management
- Network Security best practices

Desired qualifications:
- Security certifications (e.g., PCNSE, NSE4/7, CCSA/CCSE, Security+) are advantageous but not mandatory
