Network & Security Support Engineer – Hybrid Role (Northallerton)
Located at Northallerton (DL6): This is a hybrid role, requiring 2–3 office attendance days per week at the Northallerton office.

All About You
We’re seeking an experienced Network & Security Support Engineer to join our Network Support Team. This remotely supported office-based role requires 4–5 years of hands-on technical experience in:
- SD-WAN (deployment/troubleshooting)
- Security technologies (firewalls, IPS, IDS, web filtering)
- Routing (OSPF/BGP, MPLS)
- ISP management & circuit optimisation
- Support for evolving hybrid/multi-cloud environments

You’ll benefit from joining our dynamic team, engaging in critical work including incident escalation, change implementation, and mentoring. The role blends remote flexibility with regular office presence at Richmond/Northallerton/London HQ.
Your Part to Play
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve complex network security incidents escalated from Level 1/2
- Change Support: Lead implementation of projects, upgrades, and configuration changes
- Escalation Point: Provide specialist knowledge to junior engineers within a collaborative environment
- ISP Optimisation: liaise with providers to manage circuit connectivity and performance
- Knowledge Management: document issues, configurations, and solutions transparently across the team
- On-Call Awareness: participate in the out-of-hours emergency coverage rota
Required Expertise
✔ 4–5 years supporting professional-grade networks and security technologies ✔ Familiarity with ITIL Service Management principles ✔ Hands-on SD-WAN & Enterprise Firewall (e.g., Fortinet) ✔ Deep knowledge of: - Advanced routing (OSPF, BGP, MPLS) - Switching (Layer 2/3 - DDI (DNS/DHCP/configuration management) ✔ Skill in ITSM tools (Autotask, ServiceNow, Zabbix) ✔ Experience with: - SD-WAN devices (VeloCloud, SilverPeak, Viptela) - Website security products (McAfee, Palo Alto, Zscaler) - Legacy and modern cloud services
